Documentary on Allauddin Khan

Art Hose brings to you a rare documentary of the great classical instrumentalist Allauddin Khan. Allauddin Khan to those who don’t know him is the Guru of some of the greatest instrumentalists of North Indian Classical music such as Ali Akbar Khan, Nikhil Banerjee  and Ravi Shankar. The documentary contains a duet by the late Ali Akbar Khan and Ravi Shankar. There is rare footage of Annapoorna Devi playing the surbhar. One can see Allauddin Khan playing the sarode with the Maihar band. Unfortunately, this one does not contains any clips of Allauddin himself playing the sarode: looks like it was deliberately not recorded!
An abridged version of this documentary can be found on YouTube and the Film Division site.
I found the clip on banglatorrents.com. Credit goes to Henry’s Archive for making it online. Between, Henry (I am guessing it is his name) has a fantastic collection of high-fidelity recordings of Indian Classical Musicians, Blues and music from the 60s all available for download. Send some good vibes down his way. Enjoy the film.
