Mexican Master – Frida Kahlo (1907 – 1954)

Frida was a Mexican artist who used vibrant colors adopted from indigenous Mexican art. She also borrowed adopted European styles including Surrealism and Symbolism. She is particularly well known for her self-portraits. She was involved in a horrible tram accident and had to endure through multiple operations. The accident was also transformative to Frida the artist. There are accounts which suggest that shortly after the accident, she has a vision of sorts.

I have put together some of her paintings. Hope you enjoy.
